During Q2 2025, the construction industry lost 7 000 full-time jobs according to Stats SA's Quarterly Employment Statistics. Gross earnings paid to employees increased 5.9% y/y in June 2025 when compared to June 2024 with basic salaries/wages also increasing by 7.5% y/y. Part-time employees registered no change.

South Africa’s national office vacancy rate is at a five-year low according to SAPOA’s latest Office Vacancy Survey with vacancy rates having declined to 13.1% in Q3 2025, the lowest since 2020 and continuing its steady improvement from the mid-2022 peak.
